who were some famous witches during the salem witch trials?
to know more about the famous salem witch trials. do you know any of the people who were tried as witches? if you know any books about it that would be cool too.

The first three people to be accused by the girls who claimed to be possesed were a WEst Indian slave called Tituba (who had helped the girls with their divination games), Sarah Good, a beggar, and Sarah osborne, a middle-aged woman who had been involved in a legal battle with the Putnam family (Anne Putnam was one of the early accusers).
Tituba confessed, which saved her life, and Sarah Osborne died in prison. Sarah Good was hanged. On the scaffold she said to the minister who urged her to confess “I am no more a witch than you are a wizard, and if you kill me God will give you blood to drink!”
One of the oldest people to be accused was Rebecca Nurse, a seventy-one-year-old Puritan woman. George Burroughs, a former minister of Salem, was brought back from Main to be tried, accused of being the witches’ ringleader. George jacobs, an 80-year-old Salemite, was accused by one of his servants. “You tax me for a wizard, you may as well tax me for a buzzard” he said when he was arrested.
One man, Giles Corey, whose wife Martha had been executed, refused to speak at his trial, and was pressed to death (rocks were piled up on his chest until they crushed him and he died).
Elizabeth Proctor, wife of one of the most prominent men in Salem, was charged, as was Mary English, wife of the richest man in Salem.
Altogether fourteen women and five men were hanged for witchcraft, and with Giles Corey, the total number of executions is 20. Four people died in prison. Louise C
There were likely no actual witches involved in the Salem Witch Trials. This was a hysteria – people being wrongly accused based on much “evidence” that would never hold up in a court of law today.
I know the history well and have visited Salem, MA many times – but as I wasn’t alive in the 1690’s, I don’t personally know any of those who were tried as “witches”. Crystal clear
