also a link to the image would be great

so here’s the deal:
in photography class, we had to pick a famous painting and have someone imitate it to the best of our ability and then photograph it, but i can’t think of a painting(i don’t wanna use something obvious like the mona lisa). anyone have any ideas?

Some paintings by Picasso are quite easy to re-create! Search on google images :-) Bullett

Here are a few that i think might qualify, I’ll post picture links for you as well.

Edvard Munch’s most famous painting, “The Scream” is just abstract enough to be easy to imitate.

Matisse’s “Green Stripe” The color blending in the painting is not overly complex and the brush strokes are rather thick.

Warren Kimball “The American Farm” has a rather coloring book attitude to the style but just enough pattern and detail to shine through.

    Piet Mondrain “COMPOSITION RED/BLUE/YELLOW”
Overly simplistic but perfect for the lazy art imitator lol.

Also paintings without people tend to be easier to copy. But the more people in the painting itself the easier to do as they lose alot of defined details the smaller the subject.

I also suggest sketching these out grid style it make it easier.

Hope you find the right one! sam_carter_mckay

    picasso’s guernica
based on the bombing of guernica
simple black and white without any real shading, the only thing that may be tough is proportions(just use a grid) thissentancenoverb

I’m assuming that what you mean by “have someone imitate it” is that you’re going to get someone (or more than one person) to model for you, then you photograph them. If I’m assuming correctly, then I’d go for one of these:

“Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Jan Vermeer:

“The Day Dream” by Dante Gabriel Rosetti:

    “Prosperine” by Dante Gabriel Rossetti:

    “Ophelia” by J.W. Waterhouse: Alabaster

Try some of the impressionists like Monet or Chagall’s Paris through a Window or Fiddler on the Roof. Scottish Dachsy

You could be ultra-super-post-postmodern and do Gilbert and George: photographs imitating photographs that imitate paintings. Anarchlown
