I’ve seen a lot of quotes over the years misattributed to Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, etc. Why does something suddenly become wise or insightful because a famous person says it? Shouldn’t a statement stand on its own two legs?

It’s like a certain word(s)
but when an author refers to a famous person’s opinion, what is it called?
sorry for misunderstanding.

so an author is writing an essay.
he uses examples to support his idea.
He finds quotes (aka their opinions) from celebrities and uses them as examples.
What is that called? where he uses celebrities’ opinions to support his idea.
